Minding My Emotions - Part 2

A six week mindfulness meditation and emotions skills immersion.

About the Event

Minding My Emotions Part 2 builds on the foundations created in Part 1. We will have devote time to emotions not covered in Part 1 and we will also cover meditation practices not covered in Part 1. Our learning goals are similar to Part 1:

  • Understand the complexity of emotions through the lens of emotion science and learn techniques to identify, examine and be with emotions.
  • Learn how to apply mindfulness to daily living with respect to emotional episodes.
  • Join a group of meditators with support and accountability for establishing or strengthening your practice.

The immersion consists of 6 sessions (May 18, 25 and June 1, 8, 15, 22). Teaching methods will include a mixture of lecture, journaling, discussion, meditation, body awareness practices and small group work.

Session 2 - Emotional Episode Timeline - A tool for analyzing your emotions

Session 3 - Emotion Skills: Fear 

Session 4 - Emotion Skills: Shame, Contempt, Disgust

Session 5 - The Four Balances 

Session 6 - Genuine Happiness & the Four Immeasurables

This course is based on Cultivating Emotional Balance.  Started in 2000 by leaders in contemplative tradition, including HH Dalai Lama and Dr. Alan Wallace, and leaders in emotions research such as Dr. Paul Ekman, Cultivating Emotional Balance (CEB) is an educational training committed to utilizing the experience of emotion as a path for developing the happiness of being for ourselves and in relationship to others. By integrating the wisdom traditions of modern psychology, current emotion research, and contemplative practices, CEB provides a secular platform for transformation.

After registration and payment, you'll receive the Zoom link that will be used for the 6 sessions.  The total course includes 12 hours of class time, recordings for self-paced study, and optional free office hours (up to one 30 minute session per week). While some of the work can be done self-paced, we ask that you only register if you can make all 6 live Zoom sessions. Not to worry, you can always register for future sessions.

Pricing: $60 to $180 flexible pricing. Payment via Venmo or Cash App is preferred. If you'd like other payment options, please let me know!

Pricing is flexible in order to accommodate different financial situations. If you have had a financial hardship and would like to attend for free, then please feel free to register and send me an email letting me know about this.

Cancellation Policy: Refunds are available up to 72 hours before the start of the first session.
